Sunday 15th April - Christchurch to Mt Cook

Well we made it the Land of the Long White Cloud!  Albeit a bit absolutely exhausted. Emirates I have to say was awesome, best seats, food was really nice – yes aeroplane food nice! Wide screen touch monitors with 1200 channels.  Got through customs in a record 20 minutes!  Chilly Bin made it safe and sound. Picked up a brand spanking new kluger – all going to plan. We then had a few dramas with our new money card not working , then to find we couldn’t ring them to sort it out as my phone wouldn’t ring internationally – hence to say one member of our group had a few ‘moments’.  All sorted now tho.
Today we travelled to glorious Mt Cook, we made a stop on the way to buy some possum fur gloves at a wool shed and feed some very cute little lambs.  Didn’t feel like we were in NZ but as soon as we saw MT Cook that certainly changed! The lodge we are staying at has amazing views of Mt Cook, as does my bed!  We sat and had a NZ lager on the balcony overlooking the beautiful snow covered alps. The lodge has a communal lounge and kitchen, so it was tacos with one hell of a view .  Feeling like we have already been away for ages, hope we remember you all after 17 days !

(For those with an interest in our Esky (chilly bin) we will try and include a photo in every blog)

  1. Awesome! Sweet as bro. All looks spectacular. We enjoyed a beverage at ha ha bar after our walk this afternoon and the views over Lake G were amazing :-) Look after that Chully bun.

  2. Aren't those mountains just spectacular, aweinspiring and somewhat spiritual! Great to hear all is going to plan (despite hiccups). Where is that wonderful stone church you have a picture of, just lovely! All is just awesome here of course... Happy trails, Bron
